About Dannhauser Local Municipality
Dannhauser Local Municipality (LM) (KZN 254) is located in the northern part of KwaZulu-Natal Province, within the Amajuba District. It neighbors Newcastle Local Municipality and eMadlangeni Local Municipality. As the smallest of the three local municipalities in the district, Dannhauser covers an area of approximately 1,516 km².
We are committed to serving our community with excellence and integrity, providing commercial services, government infrastructure, and economic opportunities to residents across all 13 municipal wards. The population of Dannhauser Municipality was recorded at 105,341 people in 2016, showing an increase of 3,180 from 2011. Population distribution is uneven, with higher densities in Traditional Council areas in the north-east and in Dannhauser Town, which functions as a key service and economic hub.
